Stickygram photos!

Today I FINALLY went to get our mail and receive my Stickygram photos!  I first saw Elise Blaha's blog post on her Instagram photos turning into magnets on her fridge.  I had seen them before hand and finally took the plunge when she posted her $2 off code to use.

I'm thinking about making these as little Christmas card gifts to family and close friends.  They're super cute!
I just need to get a good family picture of us and make them into these cute magnets then attach them to a handmade card.

Random: Love You Forever...

Who does not LOVE this book and have read it to their children?  I first bought it for Ethan when he was a baby.  I would read it most nights to him while I put him to sleep.  He was just talking about it to me yesterday when we went to his school for his interview.  While we browse through his school library he was showing me where he found the book and told me "isn't this the book I have at home that you read to me?".
Lo and behold, while checking out Facebook today I found a link on the story behind the book.  How sweet!!
I always did find it creepy how the mother still crept into her adult son's home to rock him to sleep but I get the message that no matter how old they become and no longer need me, they'll still be my baby.  Definitely makes me cry when he rocked his own mother to sleep in the book.

Enjoying life

Ahhh!  It's the last day of August and what a fun-filled month it was!  I swear, August hit and we had to do something every SINGLE day!  Birthday partys, weddings, dinners, outings!  So i'm definitely trying to catch up on my Project Life album and hope my next stretch off work I can do that...any maybe bust out some layouts or minibooks.  Ethan is back to school and Arianna may go to daycare some days which mean I actually may have time for me!

As I uploaded just August 2013 pictures to my Facebook account last night (haven't done that in a LONG while) I found that i'm actually IN these photos.  I realized I have taken more photos with me in them.  Seems to be alot of me in there...hehe.  But in the past I always took photos of my family and friends without me in them.  ALOT of photos without me.  The reason for the change is because working as a nurse I see anything can happen today or tomorrow.  I want to cherish those memories and show that I did enjoy life and didn't just hide behind the camera.  I guess it goes back to 10 years or so when my dad got sick and became disabled.  I took so many photos of my mom and sister with him because I like taking them. And I only took photos with him when it was an occasion...last my University graduation day. But when he suddenly passed, I look for photos containing me and there were a handful of me with him.  Just me and him.  The most recent of us was my Graduation in June 2005 but he passed in November 2005.  So that's almost 6 months of no photos with him.  I felt loss when we were trying to collect photos to display at his funeral.  I was sad because all I found were happy everyday memories with my mom and sister and even our dogs.
So now, today, I take TONS of everyday happy moments with my kids and husband (have to force him) and whatever occasion.  Need to have those memories preserved not only in my mind but also in a physical-I-can-see-and-hold-in-my-hand memories.  Well, that's when I should PRINT them...someday.  This digital DSLR/iPhone camera causes me to take thousands of photos but no actual prints.  LOL.

Alright...end of my little story.  Time to head out for some tennis with friends!

A Favorite Summer Song

Y'know when it's summer there's always those jams or songs that make you think of THAT summer?  Well this is definitely on my list of faves for this summer.  I LOVE IT!  And I love this version of it too! =)

Color Me Rad 2013

This past weekend (on the Saturday) I ran my very first 5K.  And yes, I ran the ENTIRE TIME!  I'm pretty happy about that since I never really trained for the run.  Last time I ran was probably a month or so ago and the most I can run is 2 miles.  I also stop sometimes to catch my breath.  Plus, I ran to keep up with my friends...I didn't want to get left behind.  I think doing the Insanity workout these past 2 months has helped build my cardio and stamina up.  Yay!

And the reason I ran THIS particular 5K because it looked super fun when I first saw the posting on Facebook.  I looked into it and convinced some friends to do it with me.  We wanted to be the Rainbow Brites or the Reading Rainbows but all those were taken so we became the "We Dream in Color" team. We just googled it.  LOL.

The Color Me Rad run was sooo fun and entertaining.  It was "painful" during the run but it was fun knowing that at every kilometer you get thrown colored cornstarch or sprayed with it.  And I think we all finished in about 35 minutes.  That's amazing.  I usually run my 2 miles on the treadmill in 30 minutes.  After our run (and posting some photos on FB) more of our co-workers/friends want to join us for next year's run!  Hopefully Color Me Rad comes back to our city (since we had two days of it because it was so popular)!

The aftermath!

Loving: That it's FINALLY SUMMER!

Exciting: That's it's summer and we can just relax.  Besides go to work.  Planning on a road trip with some girls from work to Minneapolis in a couple weeks.

Listening to: Despicable Me movie playing in the background.  Kids are excited for Despicable Me 2 to come out tomorrow!

Enjoying: a strawberry smoothie.

Eating: pizza pop...bad, I know.

Planning: going to work.  Wish I was off.  But that's ok.  Vacation is coming up next month!!

Should be: getting ready for work & getting the kids cleaned up and dressed!

Wearing: work out clothes & my runners.

Hoping: to finish this work stretch so I can enjoy spending time with my family.

Looking forward: finishing up our landscaping.

NOT looking forward: having to DO the work of finishing up shoveling the black granite stones on the yard and then soiling and sodding the front yard.  Oh, and finish up the flower bed area.

Wishing: to win the lottery so I can just spend all my time with my kids...and Tommy too. =)

May: Right Now

Feeling: Sleepy.  This rainy weather makes me want to snuggle under the covers in my nicely darken room.

Loving: my deck!!!  It's huge & I can't wait for the hot, sunny days to sit out there and BBQ.  Plus, I can't wait till it's done.

Exciting: I chopped off almost 10 inches off my hair! Not enough to donate but it's still alot.  It was time for a change.  Got bangs & a shorter do.  I'm still trying to get use to it.

Listening to: Get Lucky - Daft Punk w/Robin Thicke & Pharell.  LOVE THIS!  On repeat lately.

Enjoying: a cup of coffee and the time I have right now to be creative.

Eating: my noodle egg soup.

Planning: catching up on my PL album, doing some laundry & just relaxing.

Should be: doing laundry & cleaning.  LOL.

Wearing: pj pants & tank top with my sweater.

Hoping: for sunshine & blue skies & hot days

Looking forward: starting on my landscape& gardening

NOT looking forward: to going to work tomorrow morning on a Saturday when I should be off.  Switching sucks & always is a good idea at the time.

Wishing: for hot days

Scrapbook Layout: "Hello Sunshine" & "Places to Visit"

I made these two layouts couple weeks ago for NSD!
I still haven't had a chance to start our Disney/Caribbean cruise trip back in 2011 but have been sporadically making layouts.  Definitely a fan of Dear Lizzy's Lucky Charm collection (all digital) along with some digital elements from Studio Calico's Sundrifter collection. (Unfortunately, most of the digital stuff for Sundrifter is gone.) This layout came along easy enough.  The challenge was to use 5 different pattern papers.  Just layered them all together and done!

Places to Visit was super simple!  The challenge was to use numbers.  I found the best photos of all the places i'd one day (soon I hope) to visit and just printed them.  I added foam dots underneath each picture so it would stand out a bit.  I also tried to have a nice 'rainbow' effect in the way the photos were place.  I painted Mister Huey's Clay mixed with water to create a light grey effect on the white cardstock.  Simple & easy.  Took me only 20 minutes to make this layout.

That's it for now.  Currently trying to catch up on my Project Life album and finishing up a baby girl album for my best friend.

Mother's Day - 2013 version (recap)

Simple day.

Woke up at 6am (maybe almost 7am) because Ari was awake and Ethan woke up.  He was itchy.  So I got up to get his ointment and lotion.  But then he's fully awake and says, "Happy Mother's Day, Mom!  Wait!  I have something for you!".  He jumps off the bed and goes to his room to give me my mother's day gift he made for me at school.  Crayon-colored flowers and coupons.  (To be honest: I had seen it already since I took it out of his backpack he tried so hard to hide from me a few days earlier and I hid my own gift from me in his closet).   I hugged and kissed him and thanked him then I told him to go back to sleep.  Hehehe.

Ari fell asleep in my arms again and I heard Tommy come in an hour later to grab Ethan.  All I remember hearing from them was, "don't come downstairs until we tell you to."  I was fine with that.  I was asleep.  All of a sudden (which felt like only 5 mins) Ethan jumps on me to tell me breakfast is ready!  I drag myself (and Arianna) out of bed to come downstairs to breakfast made on the table.

Eggs, waffles, bacon and sausage with OJ and coffee.  Oh, and a little strawberry shortcake to celebrate the day.  Simple.  Perfect.  That's all I need.  I don't need jewelry or new fancy schmancy stuff...this is from the heart.  And Ethan was sooo proud to present to me the table and the breakfast he helped make.  I'm happy.

After naptime (yeah, sleeping again), I got ready for work and the kids & I headed to my mom's to celebrate with her.  Ethan accidently forgot his coloring page he made for her but his aunt/my sister came to the rescue with 2 dozen coral-red roses.  So pretty.
I love my man, E&A.  I love my mom.

Keep Calm & Nurse On

Keeping 'calm' has been difficult during this stretch of work.  It's been crazy/rough/nutty/heavy is an understatement.  Trying to do what's best for everyone (patients, families & staff) is difficult. It's been a mentally AND physically exhausting time.  I chose to nurse (instead of be a 'doctor' or 'pharmacist') because I want to take care and do my very best to get these sick people better or give them a comfortable end with their loved ones with them in a quiet environment. Maybe it's time to move on...or things need to change.  I hate the politics that come with this job.  But I guess it's like that in any other job.  I need to do what's best for me.

I can't wait till my stretch is over, my exam is over, and I can spend more time with my family and being creative.  Scrapbooking/Project Life has been my stress reliever.  I'm in need of now.
